Leave Tromsø at 6 p.m. for a Sami camp with about 300 reindeer. Feed the herd, take a nighttime sled ride, eat a three-course dinner, and warm up with hot drinks in a candlelit gamme. Guides such as Anna, Luona, and Thea share Sami stories and joik. The Aurora is possible, never promised.

Travel 30 minutes from Tromsø to Tromsø Villmarkssenter for an evening with more than 200 Alaskan huskies, including puppies. Set out from central Tromsø at 8pm for a 3.5-hour Aurora cruise with Polar Adventures. Guides such as Ken, Holly, Thomas, and Hans Eric explain the lights, help with camera settings, and alert you when the Aurora appears. “Great evening, very well organized. The Sami guides Ulle and Inga were very nice and enthusiastic about showing us their culture, it was very informative. The reindeers were very cute, the food (salmon salad, reindeer stew and chocolate cake) very delicious, the fire very warm which we needed because outside it was freezing cold! But we got lucky and got the most beautiful Nothtern Lights during the whole evening, so of course that made it exceptionally special, but I guess without that it could’ve been still a lovely experience!”

Book a two or three-course meal at Hard Rock Cafe Copenhagen on Rådhuspladsen, between City Hall Square and the Main Train Station. Choose burgers, BBQ, salmon, salad, or vegetarian options, then browse music memorabilia and Hard Rock merchandise. Priority seating helps you avoid the regular queue.

You’ll tour Rovaniemi’s Arctic SnowHotel with an English or Finnish guide, then eat a three-course dinner in the Ice Restaurant. Choose elk, salmon, chicken, or a vegan falafel main course. Return transfers, the Ice Bar, Sky Bar, sledding, and tobogganing are included, but drinks cost extra.
“The snow hotel is absolutely amazing! I cannot believe they build it in three weeks! We had dinner in the restaurant which was both amazing as an experience, and the food was truly delicious! Our waitress was absolutely fabulous had a great sense of humour and was very accommodating and taking photographs et cetera. The tour of the rooms within the hotel was totally amazing! I cannot believe every single room is completely different and absolutely amazing. The ice chapel is gorgeous and the ice bar is definitely somewhere to have a drink. Bizarrely it’s much warmer in the ice hotel than it was the whole week we were there……”
